Nigerian Mother Returns From UK With Two Children After Divorce, Says Ex-Husband Opposed Her Working

A 30-year-old Nigerian mother of two says she returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom after her marriage broke down. She said she moved to the UK in 2022 with her children to join her husband, who was studying on a student visa. According to her, they had agreed that she would work long hours to support his tuition and household expenses. She said she contributed to his school fees and later helped him buy a car after he secured full-time work. However, she alleged that disputes began when he objected to her work schedule and would make last-minute plans that forced her to miss shifts because of childcare. She said family intervention did not resolve the matter, so she filed for divorce and returned to Nigeria with her children in July 2026. She says she is now rebuilding her life independently.
