Tinubu Slams Governors for Imposing APC Primary Candidates
President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep displeasure over how state governors handled the APC legislative primaries. He has distanced himself from reports of candidate imposition and called for corrective action. After a late-night meeting at his Ikoyi residence with South-West APC leaders, Tinubu said he never authorised indiscriminate impositions. “Even where necessary, no one should be a judge in his own case,” he insisted. He has directed the party’s national chairman and secretary to restore integrity wherever free and fair primaries did not occur. This move follows widespread allegations of irregularities across states including Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Ondo, Imo, Rivers, Benue and Adamawa. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has warned that any member found instigating violence or undermining the process will face immediate suspension.
