Ruth Usoro Wins Commonwealth Games Long Jump Silver for Nigeria

Nigeria’s Ruth Usoro won silver in the women’s long jump at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow with a season-best leap of 6.87 metres. England’s Jazmin Sawyers claimed gold with 6.93m, while Australia’s Brooke Buschkuehl took bronze after jumping 6.80m. Usoro opened strongly with her best jump and held a medal position throughout the final. Her medal adds to Team Nigeria’s athletics haul after Samuel Ogazi won the men’s 400m, Ella Onojuvwevwo earned bronze in the women’s 400m, and Nigeria’s relay teams picked up silver and bronze on the same day.
