Osun Police Bust Kidnap Ring, Rescue Cattle Rearer and Seize Firearm
Police in Osun State have dismantled a kidnapping ring linked to the abduction of a cattle rearer in Iloko, Ijebu-Jesa. At a press briefing in Osogbo, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan said three suspects were arrested with a locally made automatic gun and three live cartridges. The case began on May 5 when armed men stormed the victim’s cattle garden, abducted him at gunpoint and stabbed him before fleeing. An intelligence-led patrol found and rescued the victim, who was rushed to hospital for treatment. The first arrest was made on the spot when officers seized a suspect with the weapon. Subsequent investigations led to arrests in Kwara State and Ilesa. The matter has been transferred to the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit as detectives pursue other members of the syndicate.
