Ebonyi Assembly Committee Pledges Secure Mining Environment for Investors
Hon Ifeanyi Nwakpu, chairman of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Solid Mineral Development, has assured investors of a safe and supportive mining environment under Governor Francis Nwifuru’s administration. During an oversight visit to Forever Chim Quarry, Woda Mountain, and Top Trust Quarry in Ishielu LGA, the committee highlighted the need for prompt revenue remittance and strict implementation of Community Development Agreements (CDA). This is to promote responsible mining and sustainable development in host communities. Nwakpu emphasized the state’s determination to prevent conflicts between miners and local residents. He commended Forever Chim Quarry for fulfilling its CDA obligations and called on all operators to submit impact assessments, audit reports, and signed CDAs to the committee. Committee members Aloysius Nwodo and Stephen Orji Igwe also expressed concern over revenue leakages. They urged miners to match Ebonyi’s hospitality with full compliance to mining laws and regulations.
