Koulibaly: Senegal Must Bounce Back After 3-1 Loss to France at World Cup 2026

Koulibaly: Senegal Must Bounce Back After 3-1 Loss to France at World Cup 2026

Senegal centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly says the Teranga Lions are determined to recover quickly from their 3-1 opening defeat to France in the FIFA World Cup 2026. Senegal matched the European champions in the first half, with Nicolas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr forcing good chances. But France pulled away after the break through a Kylian Mbappé brace and a goal from Bradley Barcola. Koulibaly called the result “a shame” given Senegal’s history of strong starts. He urged his teammates to tighten up defensively, cut down on turnovers and find the net more often ahead of their next match against Norway on Tuesday.
