Nigerian Midfielder John Otomewo Seals Move to Stade de Reims

Stade de Reims has completed the signing of 19-year-old defensive midfielder John Otomewo on a contract running until 2031, media reports say. Otomewo joins from Israeli side Hapoel Jerusalem and will team up with fellow Nigerian Hafiz Ibrahim, whose experience is expected to help him settle quickly. The youngster expressed his delight at the move, stating he aims to develop his talents and contribute to the club’s objectives this season. Otomewo began his career with Abia Comets in Nigeria’s second division before shining at Gombe United in the NPFL, earning a move abroad and a regular starting spot in Jerusalem.

Absolutely, Ligue 1's breakneck speed can overwhelm newcomers. Otomewo just needs a bit of game time to settle.

Locking Otomewo in until 2031 seems risky if he fails to develop into a first-team regular.

Reims should integrate Otomewo gradually by rotating him in less demanding matches to build confidence and assess his readiness.
