Trabzonspor’s Nigerian Defender Handed Two-Match UEFA Ban After Red Card
Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has received a two-match UEFA suspension after being sent off for violent conduct in the club’s Europa League play-off first leg against Ferencváros. Nwaiwu was shown a straight red card in stoppage time of Trabzonspor’s 1-0 home defeat. Ferencváros had taken the lead through Kristoffer Zachariassen in the 17th minute. The Nigerian defender will miss the return leg in Hungary. If Trabzonspor remain in European competition, he will also miss their next continental fixture. Trabzonspor need to overturn the one-goal deficit to progress.
