Pope Leo XIV Condemns Iran Conflict, Urges Immediate Ceasefire
At his weekly Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo XIV denounced the war in Iran as a ‘‘scandal to the whole human family.’’ He renewed his appeal for an immediate ceasefire to end the death and suffering of innocent civilians. "We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people," he said. "What hurts them hurts the whole of humanity. The death and pain caused by these wars are a cry that rises to God." Now, can we say the Pope is a radical Muslim or a supporter of terrorists— as some label those of us who oppose Israel’s campaign? Pacem in Terris Urbi et Orbi (Peace on Earth, to the City and to the World). God bless the Pope.
