Woman Sues Yankees for $10m After Flying Bat Allegedly Causes Brain Injury
A 37-year-old woman has sued the New York Yankees for $10 million after she was allegedly struck in the head by a bat during a June 2 game against the Cleveland Guardians. The lawsuit says Guardians infielder Jose Ramirez lost his bat during a swing in the fifth inning. It reportedly flew over the protective netting and hit her while she sat behind home plate. She claims the impact caused a traumatic brain injury, concussion, persistent headaches, light sensitivity, balance problems and lasting injuries to her neck and hands. Her suit argues that the netting in her section was lower than in nearby areas, leaving an unsafe opening. The Yankees have not publicly responded to the allegations in the filing.
