Army Busts Illegal Arms Network, Arrests NSCDC Armourer and Correctional Officer in Enugu
Troops of Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA have arrested an armourer attached to the NSCDC Enugu State Command and a Nigerian Correctional Service officer over alleged illegal arms supply in Enugu. Intelligence from a suspect apprehended on June 28 led to a targeted raid on June 29, which saw Superintendent Tasie Victor Nnamdi detained at New Market Filling Station. He named a Delta State NSCDC officer as his supplier and Correctional Service Assistant Superintendent Ekwueme Onyebuchi Clement as a major customer, prompting a follow-up operation on June 30 where the correctional officer was arrested with 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Further raids by the 82 Division and other security agencies uncovered a wider network, recovering dozens of firearms, ammunition, IED materials and vehicles. In a related operation in Cross River State, troops also arrested three suspects and seized locally made guns, cartridges and suspected cannabis. The Army says it remains committed to intelligence-driven operations to curb criminal activity across the South East and beyond.
