Confirmed NDC Governorship Aspirants by State as of May 20, 2026
The Nigeria Democratic Congress is still screening and selling nomination forms for the 2027 governorship elections. A 17-member committee chaired by Senator Sam Egwu will vet all aspirants from May 19–26, 2026. As of May 20, seven states have notable aspirants who have picked forms or declared their bids: Bauchi: Ibrahim Kashim, former Secretary to the State Government, joined from the SDP. Lagos: Funso Doherty, ex-ADC candidate, picked the form citing inclusive governance. Benue: Dr Raymond Edoh, an ex-ADC aspirant, moved his structure into the NDC. Delta: Ken Pela, third-place in 2023, is projected but has not formally picked a form. Sokoto: Dr Shamsudeen Aliyu Haido, a medical doctor with high-profile party visits. Zamfara: Senator Kabir Garba Marafa defected and secured the state ticket. Adamawa: Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani) defected from the APC to pursue her ambition. Form sales close at midnight on May 24, 2026. The party will finalise its list after screening concludes.
