Israel and Lebanon Announce Conditional Ceasefire
Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a conditional ceasefire that depends on a full halt to hostilities by Iran-backed Hezbollah. The deal was announced in a joint statement following US-led talks in Washington. Both countries will establish pilot zones in southern Lebanon where only the Lebanese Armed Forces will operate. All non-state actors, including Hezbollah, will be excluded from these areas. Despite the agreement, tensions flared hours later when sirens sounded across northern Israel over a suspicious aerial target. The Israeli military said it intercepted an aircraft and two projectiles from Lebanon. Hezbollah claimed it had launched rockets and drones in response to alleged Israeli violations.
