TikTok Prophets: Holy Words or High-Tech Scam?
There’s a new trend of prophets holding live sessions on TikTok at all hours. They urge viewers to send gifts, share the live and follow their pages. Vision seekers jump from page to page in search of prophecy. This isn’t limited to pastors and prophets. Tarot readers and ezenwanyi have joined in. Some are genuine, but others exploit people’s faith for scam. A friend joined a live service and switched on his camera when asked. The “prophet” then named his personal details—birth date, village, siblings’ names, even his wife’s school and wedding date. My friend was shaken to the core. It turned out the rogue prophet or an accomplice was mining Facebook profiles in real time. He then pressured the viewer to message and pay fees. Many lives could be at risk when people make major decisions based on these “prophecies.” Something must be done to curb these deceptive practices.
