Ikorodu Royal Families Urge FG to Enforce Court Ruling Against FRCN Encroachment
Three royal families in Ikorodu have appealed to the federal government to enforce a court judgment protecting over 106 acres of their land from alleged encroachment by the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). According to Baale Taiwo Idowu, the families originally donated some plots to the government decades ago, but FRCN later attempted to occupy additional portions. A court confirmed the families’ ownership of the extra lands and ordered FRCN to remain within the originally acquired area. Idowu accused local agitators of misleading FRCN into seizing their land. He said false reports led to arrests of buyers who had legally purchased family plots. The families are now calling on the government to uphold the court order and allow development on the reclaimed acreage. FRCN’s legal office has dismissed the allegations as baseless, noting both compensations and previous acquisitions were properly documented.
