Megalyn Echikunwoke started acting in 1999 featuring in the infancy of her career in “The Steve Harvey Show”, “Spider Games”, and Fox hit thriller series “24”. Megalyn officially began dating Chris Rock after his divorce in 2016. In March 2020, what started as a rumor was affirmed – Chris Rock and M.K, as Megalyn is fondly called, are no longer an item. In the beginning Megalyn was born Ebubennem Megalyn Ann Echikunwoke in Spokane, Washington (not DC) in May 1983. Megalyn was born to a Nigerian Civil War survivor Mark Onigwe Versato Echikunwoke whose gunshot injuries, sustained in the 30 months war, exposed him to hepatitis B. Mark met and married Anita Laurie a white American while studying law in Spokane, Washington State in what resembled Obama Sr’s coming to the United States to study from Kenya then meeting and marrying a white American woman. Megalyn’s father passed away when she was just four. He died of liver cancer exacerbated by his hepatitis. Unable to raise her kids on her own, the Echinwoke widow moved into a native American settlement, the Navajo Nation, administratively in Arizona but which stretches into Utah and the New Mexico States. It’s for the that, today, a lot of people get the impression that Megalyn is native American. According to “Encyclopedia of African American Actresses in Film and Television” a book by Bob McCann, she was discovered as an acting talent while performing in a summer camp. The rest, as the cliche goes, is history. Relationship with Chris Rock The date was September 18, 2016, the occasion was the 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. His marriage to Malaak Compton-Rock with whom he had two children was officially dissolved just the day before, although the couple separated in 2014. Chris Rock had admitted to cheating on Compton-Rock while married to her, revealing this in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone. He said he cheated with three women, one of them famous – we suspect the famous one to be Megalyn (don’t quote us) and for doing this, he said he was a piece of shit (quote us). Continue reading...
