Ex-Corps Member Alleges AI Deepfake Led to Her Expulsion From Ekiti NYSC Camp
A former corps member has alleged that she was wrongly expelled from the NYSC orientation camp in Ekiti in 2022 after rejecting another corps member’s advances. She said the man later arranged images and a video that appeared to show them kissing, then used the material to accuse her of having sex in camp. She maintained that the digital evidence was manipulated with AI and that she was not given a fair chance to defend herself before the disciplinary panel sent her home. According to her account, her husband believed her and helped her challenge the decision through a lawyer. She said NYSC later reopened the case, subjected the materials to technical examination, found them to be heavily manipulated, apologised and allowed her to return and complete her service. The allegation raises concerns about harassment, revenge-driven deepfakes and the need for proper forensic checks before digital images or videos are used as evidence in disciplinary cases.
