Kaduna Plans 120 CNG Buses for First 24km BRT Corridor

Kaduna State plans to introduce 120 CNG-powered articulated buses on a proposed 24-kilometre Bus Rapid Transit corridor in Kaduna metropolis. Officials say planning and design have been completed and the project is moving towards implementation. The proposed system will feature dedicated bus lanes, modern stops, shelters and terminals. It is expected to offer commuters a cheaper, cleaner and faster transport option while easing traffic congestion. The state transport authority estimates that the corridor could create between 10,000 and 20,000 direct and indirect jobs, including roles for drivers, mechanics and maintenance personnel. Project consultants said most of the route would use existing road carriageways, limiting the need for major demolition or road expansion.
