Beware of Fake NPA Job Advertisements: Verify Before You Travel

A friend who works at the Nigerian Ports Authority headquarters in Lagos said a woman travelled from Kebbi State to submit an application for an alleged NPA vacancy. She was told at the gate that the advert was fake and that the HR department was not receiving applications. It was painful to hear that she had made such a long and expensive journey based on false information. Others reportedly came with similar applications, but hers involved the longest trip. Before travelling to submit a job application, confirm the vacancy through the organisation’s official customer service, HR or public relations office. Check its official website, verify with a trusted staff member where possible, and use email or post to reduce unnecessary costs.
