Jos South Unveils Women’s Peace and Security Plan and Inaugurates Implementation Team

Jos South Unveils Women’s Peace and Security Plan and Inaugurates Implementation Team

Jos South Local Government has launched its 2026–2030 Women, Peace and Security Local Action Plan. The event at the Bukuru Secretariat was organised by the Women for Positive Peacebuilding Initiative in partnership with the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria Programme, with support from an international development office. The plan offers a clear framework for tracking progress, reporting outcomes and boosting women’s roles in local peace and security efforts. It aligns with Plateau State and national strategies, emphasising a grassroots-driven approach that bridges cultural and social divides. Speakers included representatives from the British High Commission and the State Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission. They highlighted that women’s active participation is essential for sustainable peace. A new Local Implementation Group was inaugurated to lead coordination, accountability and community engagement as the plan moves into action.
