Pastor Adefarasin Declares “Nigeria Is Dead” and Warns “Counting in Naira Means Poverty”
House on the Rock’s Senior Pastor, Paul Adefarasin, stirred heated debate with a sermon titled “Becoming Who God Says You Can Be: The Sequel.” He described Nigeria’s economy as “comatose” and asserted that “counting in naira” now equates to poverty. Recalling his father’s ₦18,000 monthly salary in the early 1980s, the cleric highlighted how rampant inflation and mismanagement have eroded the naira’s value. He warned that even one billion naira today holds far less purchasing power than in past decades. Despite his stark critique, Adefarasin urged Nigerians—especially Christians—to stay hopeful and become “kingdom citizens.” He called on citizens to play an active role in restoring the nation’s economic strength.
