FG Warns Against Fake Ambassadors, Vows Prosecution
The Federal Government has warned Nigerians against falsely presenting themselves as ambassadors. The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that only the President can grant official ambassadorial titles. More than 25 host countries have now approved Nigeria’s new envoy list. A three-day induction for the ambassador-designates is set for April 27–29, with deployment to follow immediately. The ministry also alerted the public to fraudsters selling fake diplomatic passports, special airport access, and immunity. Authorities are working with the Nigerian Immigration Service and police to investigate and prosecute offenders. Brand ambassadors for private companies cannot use the diplomatic title or claim any official privileges. Any impersonation will attract legal action.
