Spurs Smash Club Record with £100m Tonali Signing
Tottenham have agreed a club-record deal worth up to £100m to sign Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. After an initial £75m bid was turned down, Spurs returned with an improved package of £92.5m plus £7.5m in add-ons linked to European qualification, meeting Newcastle’s valuation. Personal terms are expected to be agreed swiftly, with Tonali understood to be keen on a move to north London. This deal follows Tottenham’s recent agreement to sign Mateus Fernandes for £85m. Tottenham’s previous record signing was Dominic Solanke for £65m in 2024. The club has also added Jan Paul van Hecke, Martin Dúbravka, Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, and arranged a £50m transfer for Luka Vuskovic to join Brighton.
