If unchecked, this gradual growth could lead to calls for Sharia enforcement far beyond the North. Non-Muslims face daily fear under Sharia policing. They risk severe punishments even when innocent. To stop this trend, we must demand a referendum or constitutional reset that excludes Sharia from our secular framework. Consider the true cost: a man once had his arm amputated for stealing property worth just ₦13,000, according to a report by a national news outlet. If we stay silent, every southern state could face the same fate.
