Imo Police Deny Knowledge of Ransom Payment as 20 Abducted Corps Members Regain Freedom
Imo State Commissioner of Police Audu Bosso says he is not aware that ransom was paid for the release of 20 prospective corps members and another victim abducted in the state. He said a joint security operation, involving the police, military, DSS and Civil Defence, searched areas around Amako community following intelligence reports. According to him, pressure from the operation led the abductors to release the victims. However, relatives of some of the corps members dispute the account. One mother said her family paid ₦6 million to secure her son’s release.
