Hon. Wole Oke Empowers 1,240 Technical Students with Free Scholarships
Hon. Wole Oke, member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, has awarded scholarships to 1,240 students across nine Government Technical Colleges. The scheme launched in 2021 to promote technical education among youths. At Government Technical College, Osogbo, 469 students benefit under the programme. Ile-Ife has 213 beneficiaries, Ijebu-Ijesa 150, Ara 39, Inisa 109, Otan Ayegbaju 9, Gbongan 88 and Osu 12. The scholarship covers school fees, enrolment charges, lesson fees and related costs. It costs about ₦15m per term and ₦40m per session. Oke said the initiative fights unemployment by equipping youths with self-reliant skills. He noted it aligns with the Federal Government’s free-tuition policy for technical colleges. Beneficiaries like Christopher Olaniyan and Abiodu Korede praised the honourable lawmaker and pledged to make him proud.
