Analyst Says Presidency’s Rush on 2026 Electoral Act Shortchanged Nigerians
A public affairs analyst told Arise Television the presidency failed to pay due diligence before signing the 2026 Electoral Act. He argued the president and his team moved too quickly without fully studying its implications. He was speaking after a Federal High Court struck out key parts of INEC’s proposed election timetable for next year’s polls. He questioned why INEC brought submission deadlines forward from September and January into May when there were still four months to plan. He suggested delays in the National Assembly passing the Act by December 2025 left INEC with a tight window for candidate filings, primaries and campaign logistics.
