How Judaism, Christianity, and Islam View the Coming of the Messiah
In Judaism, the Messiah (Mashiach) is a future human leader from King David’s line. He will gather all Jews back to Israel, rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem, and bring global peace and justice. War and suffering will end, and obedience to God’s commandments will deepen as knowledge of God spreads. In Christianity, believers await the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. He will return in glory, judge all humanity, and resurrect the dead. The righteous will be separated from the wicked, evil will be defeated, and a new heaven and new earth will be established. Eternal life awaits the saved in God’s presence. In Islam, Jesus (Isa) is the Messiah but not divine. Near the end of time, he will return to defeat the false messiah (Dajjal), restore true monotheism, and symbolically break the cross. He will unite people under one God and establish peace and justice before the final judgment.
