Report Documents 83 Harassment Incidents Against Christians in Israel Over Three Months
A new report by the Religious Freedom Data Center and its hotline has recorded 83 separate incidents of harassment against Christians from April to June. Most incidents occurred in Jerusalem, including 46 in the Old City and nine on Mount Zion. Over half of all recorded cases involved spitting, often carried out openly and even in front of children. Some perpetrators explained their actions on camera and encouraged others to join in. The report highlights a sharp rise in incidents during Jerusalem Day and the annual Flag March. It also notes attacks on clergy, restrictions on worship during Easter, and recent assaults on holy sites in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Churches worldwide have condemned these acts and warned of their humanitarian and religious impact amid ongoing regional conflicts.
