Two-Storey Building Collapses in Sokoto, No Casualties Recorded
A two-storey building under construction collapsed on Bauchi Road in Sokoto metropolis at about 2pm on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. Workers had evacuated the site after bystanders noticed the structure showing signs of instability. A carpenter at the site said the building gave way about 15 minutes after everyone left, as workers were preparing for afternoon prayers. Emergency teams from NEMA, SEMA, COREN, the police and fire service responded and secured the area. The Sokoto police confirmed that no one was killed or injured.
