Rivers PCRC Marks 42nd Anniversary, Urges Community Partnership to Fight Crime
The Rivers State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) celebrated its 42nd anniversary at the state headquarters, with chairman Dr. Voke Emore calling on residents to deepen their partnership with the police. He highlighted the drop in general crime but warned of a recent uptick in kidnappings, stressing that timely community information is vital to drive crime toward zero. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju praised PCRC Rivers as the country’s best, echoing the Inspector-General’s commendation. He announced the formation of a new Violent Crime Response Unit that will include community members, and urged the PCRC to continue acting as a watchdog over police conduct. The event began with a procession from the Police Officers’ Mess at Old GRA to the headquarters on Moscow Road. Participants included the Commercial Drivers Welfare Association, Bikers Association, and the PCRC youth wing. The committee also distributed food packs to officers in attendance.
