NGX Extends Rally to Five Days, Adding ₦315 Billion as Trading Volume Rises
The Nigerian equities market closed higher on Wednesday, recording its fifth consecutive gain. Market capitalisation rose by ₦315 billion, from ₦158.399 trillion to ₦158.714 trillion. The All-Share Index gained 487.28 points, or 0.20%, to close at 244,791.79. The advance lifted the market’s year-to-date return to 57.31%, with 34 gainers against 26 losers. Sovereign Trust Insurance, Champion Breweries and Livestock Feeds led the gainers, while Industrial and Medical Gases, John Holt and Livingtrust Mortgage Bank posted the biggest losses. Trading volume rose 27.23% to 662.43 million shares worth ₦37.45 billion, with Sterling Nigeria leading by volume and GTCO recording the highest value of trades.
