Funny Stories From My Night Shift at a Hotel

Good evening, everyone. My security company moved me from a regular apartment lodge to a hotel with an in-house club two weeks ago. Since then, I have seen plenty of strange and funny things at my gate. A shy customer asked me to help him find a woman for a short stay. When she quoted ₦15,000, he held his head and shouted in shock. He offered ₦4,000, then later increased it to ₦7,000, but she rejected the offer and told him to go home. Later that night, four Indian men arrived in a Toyota Corolla. I suggested that one of the women nearby approach them, but she refused. She said she had once had an unpleasant experience because of the strong garlic smell from an Indian and Chinese customer. Working this gate has given me plenty of stories. There is more to come, including the tale of a man dating one of the hotel women.

Night shift security must give you a front-row seat to how awkward people can be when they think nobody notices.

The stories may be funny, but helping a customer find someone for a short stay sounds like a line security staff should avoid crossing.

Best approach is to stay polite, follow the hotel rules, and let guests handle personal arrangements without involving the gate staff.
