NNPP Lawyers Urge INEC to Block Rival Factions After Court Judgments
Lawyers for the New Nigeria Peoples Party have written to INEC, calling on the commission to engage only with the leadership validated by recent court rulings. In their letter to INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan, the firm demanded that no portal credentials or nomination authorisations be issued to any group not recognised by subsisting judgments. The solicitors insist that all electoral privileges be reserved for the NNPP leadership under Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, as affirmed by the High Court of the FCT and the Court of Appeal in Owerri. They warned that continued engagement with rival factions—such as those tied to the Kwankwasiya Movement or figures now aligned with other parties—would directly contradict binding court orders. Reminding INEC of its constitutional duty under Section 287 to enforce court decisions, the solicitors urged immediate notification of all relevant departments to ensure compliance. They cited multiple judgments delivered between April 2025 and March 2026 that confirm the valid leadership of the NNPP and prohibit recognition of any unauthorised faction.
