LAWMA Seals Tejuosho–Ojuelegba Shops Over Illegal Refuse Dumping

LAWMA Seals Tejuosho–Ojuelegba Shops Over Illegal Refuse Dumping

The Lagos Waste Management Authority has sealed shops and business premises along the Tejuosho–Ojuelegba corridor for repeatedly dumping refuse on road medians. LAWMA said the action followed several warnings, sensitisation campaigns and consultations with traders and market leaders. The agency said illegal disposal of waste had continued despite these efforts. Affected shops and stalls will remain closed until they meet sanitation requirements and put measures in place to prevent further illegal dumping. LAWMA warned that it will continue enforcing environmental laws across Lagos, noting that waste dumped on medians and drainage channels worsens flooding and public-health risks.
