Doris Ogala Joins June 12 Protest After Claiming Medical Unfitness for Trial

Doris Ogala Joins June 12 Protest After Claiming Medical Unfitness for Trial

Actress Doris Ogala has drawn fresh criticism after leading a June 12 protest in Abia State, despite citing medical reasons to skip her Federal High Court trial in Lagos. She faces charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, spreading false information and attempted extortion linked to Pastor Chris Okafor. Ogala missed several court dates, submitting reports of surgery and ongoing treatment in April and June. Video and photo evidence showed her actively addressing protesters just days after prosecutors challenged the credibility of her medical claims. Following a hearing where the judge warned she could be arrested, she falsely announced online that her case had been struck out. Her visible presence at the protest has deepened doubts about her health excuses and sparked questions about her willingness to face trial.

It's notable that a defendant claiming unfitness for trial appeared well enough to organize and lead a public demonstration.

Perhaps the medical excuse was convenient cover if you ask me, rather than a genuine reason to avoid court.

Courts should verify medical claims independently before granting trial delays to prevent potential abuse of the legal process.
