Can I Sue the Federal Government and APC Over Hardship That Contributed to My Divorce?
Nigeria’s rising cost of food, transport, rent, electricity and other essentials has put severe pressure on many families. In my case, the financial strain contributed to tension in my marriage and, ultimately, my divorce. I know a government cannot automatically be held responsible for every failed marriage. However, I wonder whether citizens can seek legal accountability when economic policies create extreme hardship that affects families, mental well-being and relationships. Can a Nigerian legally sue the Federal Government and the APC over the personal consequences of economic hardship? I would especially value views from lawyers, economists, married people and divorcees who understand the pressure of trying to sustain a family in difficult times.
