God Forgives and Forgets: Embracing Freedom at the Lord’s Table
“I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” (Jeremiah 31:34) The Passover lamb pointed ahead to Jesus as our ultimate sacrifice. At that final meal, Jesus explained that the bread and cup represent His body and blood. Through His death on the cross, we are freed from slavery to sin and brought under the protection of the Lamb’s blood. Each time we take communion, we remember our spiritual exodus. We stand at the foot of the cross, knowing our sins were nailed there. If you struggle with guilt or an accuser who won’t let you forget past failures, serve him an eviction notice. God casts our sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19) and will remember them no more (Hebrews 8:12). Live in that freedom today.
