Labour Party Chieftain Sues UNN Over Request for Peter Obi’s Academic Records
Labour Party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi has filed a suit against the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and its Vice-Chancellor over an alleged refusal to release records relating to Peter Obi’s degree. Arabambi said he requested certified copies of certificate number D000198 and the academic records supporting the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy reportedly awarded to Obi in 1984. He said the request was made under the Freedom of Information Act. The suit, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeks an order compelling UNN to formally determine and respond to the request. Arabambi alleges that the university neither released the documents within the statutory period nor issued a written refusal citing the relevant provision of the law.
