Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu says he has been rewarding best graduating students from the University of Nigeria (UNN) since 2014 through Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation.

The lawmaker disclosed this in a post on his verified Facebook page on Friday morning, while congratulating the benefiting students for the 52nd convocation ceremony of the elite university.

While congratulating the beneficiaries, Kalu noted that education remains the best legacy for all, saying: “In 2014 at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation instituted three categories of awards for the best graduating students. This action was solely to encourage academic performance and seriousness among the students. While redeeming the pledges for this year’s winners at the 52nd convocation ceremony of the prestigious University last night, I was impressed with the CGPA of the winners. 

“The overall best graduating student in the entire university-Ejiofor Chizoba Victor; a student of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science graduated with 4.93 CGPA.

“The best graduating student in the Faculty of Social Sciences -Ugwoke Cornelius Chinemeogo; a student of Economics Department graduated with CGPA of 4.81.

“The best graduating student in Department of Economics is also Ugwoke Cornelius Chinemeogo with CGPA of 4.81. It’s a double win for him!

In a chat with Chinalurumogu Success Eze who is fondly called Nalu Kings revealed to Myschoolnews that she loves to talk and write.

She further revealed that Entertainment has always been her thing, and she has also been able to craft a niche for herself in Film journalism. in a contribution note, Nalu also hinted that she believes in Nollywood.

Heavy Protest Rocks UNN As VC Prof. Charles Igwe Increases School Fees By 100%

In a shocking revelation, the serene campus of the University of Nigeria Nsukka was rattled today as a male lecturer, identified as Professor Mfonobong David Udoudom from the General Studies department, was apprehended in an attempted sexual encounter with a married female student. The incident, which unfolded in the early hours of April 22, 2024, has sent shockwaves across the institution and beyond.

The lecturer, who teaches GSP 208 (Nigerian People and Culture), was reportedly caught red-handed in his office by authorities who intervened just in time. According to sources, including the brother-in-law of the victim, the lecturer had demanded sex in exchange for good grades. The student declined, leading to the lecturer's threats that others might not pass his course if she did not comply. The victim tried to appease the lecturer with money, but he refused, escalating the pressure on her.

It was reported that this is not the first time Professor Udoudom has attempted such acts, with many of his previous victims coming from the Food Science and Technology (FST) department. To expose the lecturer, a trap was set by the student's husband in collaboration with university security and the Dean of Student Affairs. The plan worked, and evidence was gathered, leading to the lecturer's apprehension.

University authorities were quick to respond, capturing video footage of the scene and collecting evidence. Eyewitnesses, who preferred to remain unnamed, emphasized the thoroughness of the investigation, stating, "We have been following the case from the very start. We have all the tracts, voice notes, and everything. We have been following it." The lecturer was taken to the Dean's office for further interrogation, where he was seen in tears as he faced the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Edwin Omeje.

The incident transpired at the GS building within the University of Nigeria Nsukka, marking a dark chapter in the institution's history.

The Executive Chairman of Chrome Group of Companies,on Saturday donated N100m endowment fund for the development of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).
Sir Offor,who is philanthropist, made the donation shortly after he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) during the 52nd Convocation ceremony of UNN in Nsukka.
Offor, who was represented by one of his managers, Chief Steve Ahaneku, said that the Vice Chancellor of UNN, Prof. Charles Igwe had discussed the mode of disbursement and the area of development in the university.
According to him, -Sir Emeka Offor Foundation - has been in the fore-front of educational, health and youth empowerment.
He stated that UNN has been a great beneficiary of his foundation with Books for Africa to the tune of multi-million worth of books in various disciplines.
According to him, the foundation and Books for Africa have donated books worth $30 million to institutions in 18 African countries in various disciplines, they include law, computer science, business administration, political science among others.
Offor said that not long ago during the COVID-19, the foundation donated 100 fully fitted hospital beds to the University of Nigeri Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku-Ozalla near Enugu to reinforce the desire for Nigerians to have sound health.
According to Offor, in 2010 the foundation endowed a professorial chair worth N20 million in the UNN, noting that it has been quite a time a comprehensive report had been sent across on the endowed chair.
"I appreciate this great institution for this rare and high honour to me and my group," he said.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof Charles Igwe, said that the university carefully chose world class personality that met the stringent criteria stipulated for the award of the honorary degrees of the UNN.
Igwe, before Offor's citaton was read, said as a student and great ambassador of the institution, Offor had distinguished himself in the oil and gas sectors as well as other endeavours he had engaged in.
"Sir Emeka Offor has exceptionally done well in all God has blessed him to engage in; a shining example of simplicity, humility and someone who is fully out to uplift humanity in its entirety" he said.
Reacting, Igwe Austine Ndigwe, Eze-Uzu III of Awka Ancient Kingdom, said that Offor deserve the award for his numerous work of charity and philanthropy, stating that Offor gives to everyone and group without limit.
Ndigwe called on Nigerians to emulate the spirit of selfless giving of Offor.
He said said due to his spirit of giving and weeping tears of many, God has keep on blessing Sir Emeka Offor.
Chief Ikenna Ofodeme, Majority Leader of Anambra State House of Assembly, said that Offor has been a great blessing to humanity and has been instrumental to development in communities and institutions in the country.
Ofodeme, who is a member representing Ekwusigo State Constituency, said that "the people of Anambra are proud to associate with their illustrious son and foremost philanthropist.
Offor and three others received honourary doctorate degrees from UNN.

Emeka Offor  Endows N100m In UNN

Residents of Obukpa Community in university town of Nsukka in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, have raised the alarm over what they described as impending epidemic. 

The residents, who spoke on Friday, hinged their fears on a leaking sewage at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Indigenes of the community, Mr Chisom Ugwu and Chief Christian Odume told newsmen that a burst sewage had spread its content right into the community, causing discomfort and threatening the health of the people of the area. 

Recall the the community had dragged the university to court over ecological concerns, bordering on alleged environmental degradation due to ongoing construction of multimillion hostels that allegedly re-channeled flood water into Obukpa community. 

The case is before an Enugu State High Court in suit No: N/86/2020, which was filed by Hon Nnaemeka Aleke on behalf of the community, seeking to restrain the university and Viagem Property and Investment Limited from further development of the 11,900-room hostel over the alleged environment degradation in Obukpa Community.

The university's host community, through its counsel, claimed that construction of the hostel by UNN created erosion that destroyed lands, roads, houses and other properties of Ajuona Obukpa people. It added that it also became a source of mosquito infestation that made malaria a common illness in the community. 

“The plaintiff claims that the roads leading into and out of Ajuona Obukpa Community are devastated. They claimed that they have suffered unquantifiable damage to their properties generally and that the environment was gradually becoming uninhabitable due to construction activities of the first defendant, which is becoming worse”, the counsel said. 

The community also sought an order of the court directing the first and second defendants to stop the building of the hostel until they control the erosion devastating lives and properties in Ajuona Obukpa Autonomous Community. 

Also sought is an interlocutory injunction restraining the defendants, particularly the second defendant, from the construction of the hostel in the premises of the first defendant or any other construction work in the university pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit. 

The parties have all presented their cases, with the matter now adjourned for written address of counsels.

It was equally learnt that a few days ago, the judge handling the case, other officials and representatives of both parties in the suit, were at the location to have an on the spot assessment of the claims. 

However, indigenes of Obukpa community told newsmen that the situation had worsened with the burst sewage, which they said was pushing its contents into their community.

“The entire community is in a mess; faeces has been released into our community from that burst sewage.

“It is so bad and we are urging urgent action before it throws our community into avoidable health hazards.

“If you come to our community now, you will find it difficult to breathe,” Ugwu and Odume told the media.

Obukpa, UNN Host Community, Raises Alarm Over Looming Epidemic

NSUKKA----The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, chapter, on Tuesday, vowed to commence the "mother of all strikes," if the Federal Government refuses to pay members of the Union their withheld eight months salary arrears.

The ASUU-UNN Chairman, Comrade Christian Opata, who addressed pressmen before members of the Union embarked on a peaceful protest at the UNN main campus in Nsukka, Enugu State, said the Institution would not hold any Senate or Departmental Board meetings to approve Students results.

Comrade Opata said that "it raises a moral question," for the Federal Government to renege on honouring agreements it signed with the members of the Union since 2009.

He equally said that the government is tactically "unleashing anarchy on the nation," by adopting no-work-no-pay strategy and equally expecting members of the Union to do all the arrears of academic works accumulated during the period of the industrial action, adding that students who may not be graduated as a result of government's action on the Union may plunge the nation into anarchy.

The ASUU-UNN Chairman however, said that the members of the Union are not in confrontation with the University Management in their efforts to seek redress from the Federal Government.

"The bone of contention has been that we have a government that refused to honour an agreement it willingly signed. This raises moral question because this is an agreement the government signed willingly through collective bargaining, yet, it refused to honour it since 2009. 

"To make matters worse, the same government which reneged on the agreement has turned to punish those it reached the agreement with and they held our children at home for eight months. We suspended the strike and the same government adopted pro rata payment as if to say that we are labourers of casual work.

"We are still running the 2020/2021 academic session and students are being graduated, yet, government is telling us no-work-no-pay. ASUU can accept that condition and decide not to graduate older students, except those admitted this year. Can government hold us culpable if we do this? Can they sustain the pressure which would be coming from students who may not be graduated? Would government not be unleashing anarchy on the nation?

"ASUU has a lot of options before it but the Union does not want to throw the nation into maximum anarchy," Comrade Opata said.

Some members of the Union who protested to the Vice Chancellor's office and other faculties in UNN bore placards with the following inscriptions:"We say no to bad governance, ASUU members lives matter; pay us our salary backlogs; no pay, no 2020/2021 academic session results. We say no to pro-rata; our Government does not honour agreement; get ready for mother of all strikes," among others.

The Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Prof. Anthony Ani has urged Nigerians to emulate the Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences at the University of Nigeria (UNN) Nsukka, Prof. Ogbonnaya Igwe on his works for posterity.

Ani made the call while inaugurating a pavilion attracted by Prof. Igwe and constructed by a Philanthropist, Chief Anthony Ofoma for the faculty.

The senator described the pavilion as a show of commitment from the dean and the philanthropist ,to enhance the status of the faculty and create a conducive learning and working environment for its students and staff.

" I have a philosophy of life that there is tomorrow and Igwe who is my younger brother also shares and practicalises such philosophy.

"It is tomorrow that will talk about today and tomorrow,, people will talk about what we left behind for posterity, today.

"What we should therefore, be concerned about is what to do to serve God and humanity," 

He described Igwe as a man of integrity and character who has blazed the trail in his chosen career and the service of God and humanity.

".When I received the invitation from the dean, I did not hesitate to attend despite my commitments at the National Assembly which is resuming from recess.

"This is like a home coming for me because I bagged my first and second degrees from this university while my son is a final year student here,".

He also thanked Dr Ofoma for his kind gesture to his alma mater and prayed God not to allow his efforts be in vain.

The Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, UNN, Prof. Ogbonnaya Igwe thanked the guests for attending the event especially the senator for honouring it despite his right schedules.

"I thank Dr Ofoma for his gesture towards the construction of the pavilion as he has proven to be a man of his words.

"I was at the Federal University of Technology Owerri a month ago to examine post graduate students and Dr Ofoma called me.

"He asked me what was still needed at the place we were landscaping and I replied that we needed not just the ultra modern seats that he promised but a car park.

"He said that we should do the inauguration and he will see what was remaining.

"Before the commencement of this event, he had gone round himself and seen what needs to be done,".

Ofoma in his remark, noted that the pavilion was part of his philanthropic gestures and he was pleased to initiate this particular one at the UNN.

"I was motivated to construct the facility because of the exemplary and innovative qualities of the dean of the department.

"I urge staff and students to judiciously utilise the facility and assure that all that is needed to make it absolutely conducive would be provided,.

Speakers who spoke at the occasion also extolled the achievements of the faculty dean which include: creation of the nuclear science department under the faculty and collaborating with the Vice Chancellor to move staff to the new department.

Igwe was also commended for attracting a donor for the construction of a befitting building for the department and securing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the faculty and Kyoto university in Japan for staff and students exchange programmes, involving research collaboration.

He was equally commended for regularising appointments that are unprecedented despite inheriting largel number of appraisals occasioned by strikes and COVID 19 break, and processing unprecedented number of promotions among other feats.

Pavilion Inauguration: Senator Urges Nigerians To Emulate Unn's Faculty Dean

The Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU University of Nigeria, Nsukka Chapter, Dr Linus Moses Akata has asserted that SSANU is bracing itself for potential repercussions regarding its stance on the strike ultimatum.

He made this known in an interview with MySchoolNews TV in the university environs.

Akata disclosed that the strike came as a response to unmet agreements from 2022 by the government on the stoppage of the renegotiation of the 2019 agreement which was a Collective baining Agreement that took 8 years to reach, the release of end allowances they couldn't release as promised and the reconstitutioning of governing Council.

However, one of the key concerns raised by the striking unions is the unequal treatment of non-teaching staff compared to academic staff. Despite assurances from the current administration, grievances regarding salary areas and essential services' payments remain unresolved as the federal government only paid 4 months areas to the academic staff.

The strike, which commenced with a seven-day warning phase, has already disrupted essential services such as water supply, hostel maintenance, and academic activities. Gerardine, the Hall Governor of a hostel on campus, highlighted the challenges faced by students and staff since the strike began. "There is no water," she lamented, noting that even basic tasks like cleaning and hostel management have been affected.

Furthermore, the strike has forced the postponement of Computer-Based Tests (CBT) exams, affecting students' academic schedules. Gerardine expressed concern over the lack of communication from the administration regarding measures to address the strike's effects on campus services.

The strike's impact extends beyond water and hostel services, affecting electricity supply and security arrangements. While essential services like security have not joined the strike, concerns over fair compensation and working conditions persist among these personnel.

In response to queries about the strike's duration and potential outcomes, the union representative emphasized their determination to press for their demands. They urged solidarity among NASU and SSANU members, emphasizing their resilience and readiness to endure further challenges if necessary.

"He who is down fears no fall. We have being owed already so what is there? So it is just between the deep blue sea and the Devil Himself and the level of compliance will tell you that people are ready, even for the worst. You can cease as many salaries. If we could survive 8 months then they we can survive eternity", Akata affirmed.

The award presented by MACSA President Mr. Isaac Chibuife to Miss Ede is in recognition of Miss Ede’s commitment to campus journalism at UNN. 

The award was presented to the final year mass communication student (Miss Ede) on the occasion of the ACSA Dinner/Award Night held Friday, March 29, 2024, at Padelia Suits, Nsukka.

A young graduate identified as Ugwoke Jerry has committed suicide in Nsukka, Enugu State.

SaharaReporters gathered that Jerry was a graduate of Combined Arts (English/History) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Before his death, the deceased had sent an emotional message to his mother on why he decided to commit suicide.

“You are the best mother ever, in this world. Am sorry for disappointing you. Please.” he said in the message to his mother.

The reason for his action remained unknown.

“It’s so sad, this guy is my colleague. He was lucky to graduate and had also completed his National Youths Service Corps. Some people are still in school finding how to graduate but he was even fortunate,” a source lamented.

The school authorities and Jerry’s family could not yet be reached to comment on the incident.

Suicide among university students in Nigeria has lately become a disturbing trend.

SaharaReporters had in August reported that the Nigeria Police Force, Abia State command confirmed the death of Modestus Hyacinth Egbulefu, a 500-level student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), who committed suicide.

The Command's spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, had said the victim, who was studying Electrical/Electronic Engineering, jumped from a three-storey building.

The final-year student was reported to have committed suicide after taking hard drugs suspected to be “Mkpulu mmiri.”

However, the PPRO had said an investigation was ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He had said, "The guy jumped from a three-storey building and died instantly. When they went to the house, they saw some substances suspected to be a drug known as 'mkpulu mmiri', presumably consumed before embarking on that journey. But all the same, investigation is in progress."

As expected, the students of UNN (Nsukka and Enugu Campus) have started a peaceful protest to express their anger at the school authorities.

In a video, students can be heard chanting "Yahoo VC, we no dey pay shi shi" as they marched to the VC's office at the Nsukka campus.

Meanwhile, after thorough investigation to confirm the school fees hike, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Enugu chapter, have given the school management an ultimatum of 3days to reverse the fees or expect a visitation from the association. In the early hours of the morning, the Economic Financial Crime Commission, EFCC operatives raided the University of Nigeria, Nsukka UNN Environs and carted with students.

An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity with MySchoolNews TV revealed that the operation took off at Odenigwe and Hilltop student accommodation areas.

The number of students taken is yet to be disclosed as the officers are still said to be on duty.

On the contrary, there is a current pandemonium among students who believe this was the wrong timing for the raid as the students have just started their second-semester examinations.

Plan to impose Acting Vice Chancellor on UNN busted

NSUKKA ----There is an uneasy calm at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, following the unveiling of a plot by the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Charles Igwe, to allegedly impose his choice candidate, Professor Romanus Ezeokonkwo, as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University.

It was gathered that the current Vice Chancellor, Professor Igwe, who is from Awka in Anambra State, is leaning on the support of Awka Area Association, (AAA), made up of UNN workers from Awka and the surrounding towns in Anambra State to allegedly arm-twist the Senate of the University in order to install Prof. Ezeokonkwo another AAA professor as his successor.

It was also gathered that Professor Ezeokonkwo, had enjoyed undue favours from the present Vice Chancellor, Professor Igwe, who had within five years appointed him the Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Research, CEDR; Acting Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies; and the Dean of the Postgraduate School.

It was equally learnt that in a bid to boost Professor Ezeokonkwo's chances, the Vice Chancellor equally elevated the UNN Postgraduate School to a College and also made Professor Ezeokonkwo the Provost. 

As if that was not enough, our reporter learnt that he was appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) from where he is being positioned to become the Acting Vice Chancellor at the expiration of Professor Igwe's tenure in June this year.

Having been appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor at a time the Council was not in place, it is speculated that the Minister has ratified the appointment.

This development, our reporter learnt has infuriated UNN professors and the entire university community who feel arm-twisted by the power of the Vice Chancellor and his Awka Area Association group.

A UNN professor who pleaded for anonymity on Friday said "This is totally against the will of the University professors and the entire UNN community including other UNN staff who hail from Anambra State but not from Awka area. In fact, other Anambra workers who are not from Awka area are even more embittered that the rest of the workers from other areas of Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Imo and Ebonyi States were being taken for a ride by the AAA. The other Anambra groups feel that they are being used by the members of AAA to achieve their selfish aims of perpetuating themselves in power to the detriment of other Anambra professors and workers at UNN."

Another source who also pleaded for anonymity reiterated what our reporter already found that "the current Vice Chancellor has been planning to install Prof. Ezeokonkwo as the next VC of UNN.

" In a clear succession plan, he was first appointed Director Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Research, from there, he was made the Acting Dean, School of postgraduate studies and later, Dean of the School.

"In order to give him more advantage, they pushed for elevation of the School of Postgraduate Studies to a College and the current VC pushed the Senate to approve this and he was appointed the Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies UNN. 

"The main purpose of this action is to enable Prof. Ezeonkonkwo to earn additional points as a Provost. This was not the end, the VC again nominated him for the position of the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration and went ahead to impress on the Senate to ratify the nomination. The next plan of the VC and AAA is to ensure he is appointed or elected as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University.

"Through these menacingly fast-track postings and elevations, the units got funded to enable Prof Ezeokonkwo to appear hard-working. He was funded by management to renovate CEDR and PG School that management did not consider worthy of renovation prior to his posting to those units.

"Interestingly, these appointments of Professor Ezeokonkwo from one position to another are consistently happening within a short time leaving him with little or no experience to prepare him well for the leadership of the ivory tower. In all these positions, he did not spend the stipulated number of years or tenure before he is appointed to other positions. 

"More importantly, there are other well-qualified professors including the current Deputy Vice Chancellor , Academics, who coincidentally is the most senior and longest serving Deputy Vice Chancellor in the University that is eminently qualified to serve as Acting Vice Chancellor," the source said.

It was also gathered that all efforts to encourage the Vice Chancellor to support the appointment or election of a more experienced Professor as acting Vice Chancellor after his tenure received no attention by Professor Igwe and his AAA people, thereby leading to several other agitations from all quarters seeking for the leadership of the Lion’s Den as UNN is called.

Plan To Impose Acting Vice Chancellor On UNN Busted

NSUKKA—There was an uneasy calm in Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Express Road, Enugu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Sunday, following the alleged abduction of an unspecified number of road users, including students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, who were returning to school after the eight months Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, strike.

Some lucky commuters, who managed to escape, said the kidnappers attacked at least six commercial buses, riddled them with bullets and diverted the occupants to nearby bushes.

It was gathered that the kidnappers are already contacting the families of victims, demanding N30 million ransom.

A source told Vanguard that a woman from Aku in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area of Enugu State and his son were among the victims of the kidnap incident, adding that while the son has been released, the woman is still in captivity.

He equally said a medical doctor, who had regained his freedom, paid an undisclosed ransom to be set free.

He also expressed surprise that such criminal activities could take place on the road with about six security checkpoints between Nike and Opi Junction in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.

Though the spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, did not respond to enquiries on the incident, a student of UNN, who equally pleaded for anonymity, said: “It is very true. My friend’s roommate’s sibling and mom were kidnapped. My friend was almost kidnapped too but he managed to escape.”

Vanguard gathered that the road where this incident took place has become a flashpoint for kidnapping and all sorts of criminalities.

In September 2022, the kidnappers blocked the said road around the Ekwegbe axis and abducted an unspecified number of road users with police claiming that two of the victims were later rescued.

At the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) on Thursday, Labour Party’s flag bearer, Mr. Gregory Peter Obi made an appearance at his alma mater where bagged a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and promised Nigerian students better education.
During his 10 minutes address, UNN students commonly referred to as Lions and Lionesses were told to have hope for better education, as against the popular cliché of “education is a scam”.

He said, “everybody will say education is a scam, that's because when you finish school, you'll not get job and you get worried. School education of four years will turn to six to seven year course.”
The LP presidential candidate however stated that if he is allowed to serve the country, four year education will be four years.
He recounted his time as the Governor of Anambra state, saying that when he had an Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike during his tenure, he met and told them, “after we settle this, it will not happen again”.
Obi went on to say, “we cannot afford to bear constant striking in our universities, it must end. God so much blessed Nigeria, but your country is not doing anything and that's why we are saying, 'we will move this country from consumption to production”.
He made a remark about insecurity in the nation, stating that no longer will students be going back to school and get kidnapped. He jolted, “I'll end kidnapping”.
The students gave a loud cheer after his speech and chanted different songs in honor of Obi. They also took many photographs with him.
State Labor Party members came en masse for the event. Some of the dignitaries present were, Hon. Mark ChidiObetta (JerryMarriot), Malachy OkeOnyechi, Hon. T.U Attah, lecturers, and school administrators among many others.

2 UNN students involved in the Kidnapping and Possible death of Chika for over 2 years now

Chika was a successful business man who lived with his best friend Aaron Paschal popularly called Young T, this was between 2018 to about 2022. They lived at Hilltop Nsukka and later moved to behind magistrate court G.R.A. Nsukka. During this period they did a lot of things together; they smoked weed together, took hard drugs together, chased women together and people even said they were also gay because of their weird relationship.

Chika was doing far better than Aaron Paschal and Chika introduced Aaron Paschal to alot of businessses and contact. Aaron Paschal started gossiping behind Chika, he was telling everyone that Chika was the one holding his progress in life. He told people that Chika is evil and they should avoid him.

One faithful day, Aaron Paschal started a fight with Chika and almost killed him by hitting his head with heavy objects. After that day Chika parked out of the house for fear of being killed for nothing.

Aaron Paschal didn't stop, few weeks later, Aaron Paschal teamed up with his gay friend Aniorji Michael Chibuike and sent unknown armed men one night to abduct Chika from where he was at Nsukka. Since then no one has heard from Chika. The problem is that Chika's family is not financially bouyant to fight Aaron Paschal Tochukwu and they have to live not knowing if their son is dead or alive.

The same Aaron Tochukwu Paschal and Aniorji Chibuike Michael abducted the founder of 4scholars Club 3 times in 2024 alone and he managed to survive, even though his lawyer was shot dead during this period.

2 UNN Students Involved In The Kidnapping And Possible Death Of Chika For Over 2

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed outrage over what it called near total breakdown of security along the Enugu-Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Road.

The alarm is contained in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Thursday by the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike.

He said it was disheartening that despite the heavy presence of security operatives on the road, including the military and the police, the hoodlums were carrying out their rampaging activities unchallenged.

On Sunday, kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen had blocked the road abducting many commuters in the process. Some of the victims are said to be returning students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN.
Four days later, the criminals are said to be having a smooth operation. Similar operations have been carried out within the same axis consistently for over a month.

Reacting, Okwu said the development was unacceptable, urging the security agencies to look inwards.

He said, “We are saddened that the all important Enugu-Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Road has now become impassable because of the activities of rampaging Fulani herdsmen.

“No day passes by without sad stories from commuters and their loved ones. Just this Sunday, some travellers, including returning students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, were abducted by the gunmen.
As we speak, not one of them has been released or rescued by security operatives. The kidnappers are demanding millions of naira.

“Today again, Thursday, information reaching us indicates that the armed men are back on the same road, and have succeeded in taking hostage many travellers.

This calls to question the role of the various security checkpoints mounted on that road, including the Army and the Police. Feelers are alleging that there is internal collaboration between some of them and the hoodlums.
We are urging the Army and the Police hierarchy to launch a discreet investigation and find out those providing a safe haven for these criminals.
We have had enough sorrowful incidents on that road; we have had enough assurances from the police but it has not translated into results.”

The Igbo group demanded that “every effort should be made to free all hostages. The perpetrators should also be arrested forthwith and all forms of crimes should be stopped on that road.

We learnt that they operating from Ekwegbe Agu forest. Security agencies should move in there and smoke them out. This is the only way for the security agencies to redeem their image and earn the trust of the people.”

A man said to be a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was caught pants down while allegedly trying to sleep with a married student.

In a video which has gone viral on social media, the married lecturer was seen in shorts, moving around agitatedly as he was being interrogated.

A voice in the clip said they have been on the lecturer's trail for a while.

“You can see. We have been following the case from day one. We have all the tracks, all the voice notes. This is somebody's wife. This is a married lady. Somebody's wife," the voice said. 

Another clip shows the lecturer crying pitifully.

UNN Lecturer ' Caught Pants Down With Married Student

The management of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) has announced the resumption date for students, myschoolnews gathered that the Second-semester Examinations are set to begin Monday, 7 Saturday, and end on 26 November 2022.

Confirming the authenticity of the said released memo, the University SUG president, Abuchi Michael confirmed to myschoolnews that the circulating memo is from the University authority, urging students in all departments to resume as soon as possible, he concludes.

UNN Resumption Date Announced, Second-semester Exams Begin 7th And End 26 Nov

Fear has gripped many over the disappearance of John Udochukwu Elekwachi, a final-year student of Combined Social Sciences at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Elekwachi’s elder sister, Uchendu, who spoke with PUNCH Metro on the telephone on Sunday, said she got a distress call that her brother was taken away by some men. She expressed concern about the incident noting that the family had not received any update regarding the victim’s whereabouts.

Uchendu said, “I was in Port Harcourt on Tuesday when they called me. The landlady said some unknown men came to my brother’s lodge with four Hilux and one Jeep by 3 a.m., and took him away on Monday. Since then, we have not heard from him, and those people have not called since then.

“I have gone to report in various places. We went to the Enugu State Criminal Investigation Department, the Department of Security Services, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to make complaints, but they said he was not there. I have not been myself since then.”

The incident was also confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by the Executive Council of the combined Social Sciences Students Association (Comssa), UNN chapter, co-signed by the President, Okonkwo Richard, and the General Secretary, Obolo Mmesoma.

The statement partly reads,” It is with concern that we announce that our classmate, Elekwachi John U (John El), has been reported missing. He was last seen on April 15, 2024, at his lodge in the Green House.

“An eyewitness gave an alleged account of John being taken away by armed men who arrived with four Hilux trucks, but the name of the agency was not disclosed.

“We are working closely with the authorities and John’s family to ensure his safe return. If anyone has any information regarding his whereabouts, please, contact UNN security or any federal agency immediately.”

When our correspondent contacted the spokesperson for the Enugu Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday, he did not respond to his calls or reply to the text messages sent to his telephone number as of the time of filing this report.
