If Some Are Predestined, Why Does the Bible Urge Us to Preach the Gospel?
This post explores why evangelism remains vital even with the doctrine of predestination. It argues that preaching is God’s chosen method to call his elect while declaring the gospel to everyone. Jesus commands believers to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15) and to “make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19–20). Paul explains that faith comes by hearing and that people cannot believe without a preacher (Romans 10:14–17). It pleased God to save those who believe through the “foolishness of preaching” (1 Corinthians 1:21). At the same time, scripture affirms that “as many as were ordained to eternal life believed” (Acts 13:48), that “all the Father gives me will come to me” (John 6:37), and that “my sheep hear my voice” (John 10:27).
