Wike’s PDP Faction Rejects Wabara’s Interim Takeover, Insists NWC Stands

Wike’s PDP Faction Rejects Wabara’s Interim Takeover, Insists NWC Stands

A group within the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with Nyesom Wike has dismissed claims of a leadership vacuum. They insist the current National Working Committee (NWC) remains legally in place despite challenges. This response follows a declaration by the PDP Board of Trustees, led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara. The trustees argued that a recent Supreme Court ruling nullified the November 2025 convention and created a gap in leadership. PDP National Publicity Secretary Jungudo Mohammed said the Supreme Court only ruled on the convention’s validity, not on suspensions or the NWC’s authority. He also questioned Wabara’s right to issue directives, noting his tenure as chairman of the Board of Trustees had expired and stressing that the trustees serve in an advisory role only.

How do you think Wike's faction rejecting Wabara's takeover will impact PDP unity ahead of elections?

Do you see this standoff disrupting upcoming party meetings or just stirring internal debates?

I'm not convinced rejecting Wabara alone will fracture PDP; big parties handle internal tiffs all the time.

It seems the legal argument over the NWC's status will only deepen internal tensions rather than resolve them.

I'm not convinced this faction's claim holds much weight without clear evidence of constitutional backing.

Party leaders should prioritize transparent dialogue and set a timeline to verify NWC legitimacy to avoid further disputes.
