Shettima Backers Threaten APC Over VP Removal

Supporters of Vice President Kashim Shettima have warned that they will tear the APC apart if he is removed from office. They insist that only the Constitution can determine a VP’s vacancy. They cite Section 146 of the 1999 Constitution, which lists resignation, death, impeachment for gross misconduct, and medical incapacity as the only valid grounds. They also noted that Pastor Adeboye holds no formal power in government removals. Analysts say such public assertions often rise before election cycles. They see this as an effort to emphasize legal limits and calm speculation ahead of 2027.

Do you see the party losing more grassroots support or just facing internal power struggles?

It's interesting that they cite Section 146 as the only route for a VP vacancy, but political pressure often outweighs constitutional clauses.

I'm not convinced the threat alone will change party decisions; major stakeholders rarely yield to fan pressure without deeper bargaining.

Lawmakers should review the constitutional requirements together and find consensus to avoid a public split that harms the APC's unity.
