Deco: Raphinha’s Form Means Barcelona Do Not Need Osimhen or Alvarez
Barcelona sporting director Deco says the club are not under pressure to sign a traditional No. 9, with Raphinha thriving in Hansi Flick’s attacking system. Raphinha has played centrally following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. He has scored eight goals and registered one assist in five competitive matches. Barcelona had been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez and Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen. Deco said elite traditional strikers are scarce and argued that teams such as Paris Saint-Germain have shown they can succeed without one. He believes Raphinha’s movement, finishing and versatility give Barcelona enough attacking options for now.
