PDP’s Nwogu Clinches Rivers South East Senatorial Seat with 46,961 Votes

The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Olaka Nwogu of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the Rivers South East Senatorial bye-election held on June 20. Four candidates vied for the seat. Nwogu led with 46,961 votes, followed by APC’s Osarokaka Ebenezer Erewari with 1,647, AA’s Douglas Fabeke with 1,175 and Labour Party’s Sam Kinani with 367. INEC also confirmed that backup Bimodal Voter Accreditation System machines and on-site technical teams were deployed across the seven LGAs—Khana, Gokana, Tai, Eleme, Andoni, Oyigbo and Opobo—to address any accreditation glitches and ensure a smooth voting process.

It's interesting that four candidates contested yet the margin between PDP and APC seems relatively close despite Nwogu's lead with nearly 47k votes.

Those vote figures look solid, but by-election dynamics differ from general polls, so reading too much into just Rivers South East could mislead.
