Super Falcons Begin WAFCON Title Defence Against Malawi

Nigeria’s Super Falcons begin the defence of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title against tournament debutants Malawi at Al Medina Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday night. The Falcons won the last edition after coming from behind to beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final. Malawi arrive as underdogs, but the Scorchers have dangerous attacking options in sisters Tabitha and Temwa Chawinga. Malawi have shown they can compete with strong opposition, including a draw with Zambia and a convincing qualifying win over Angola. Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu says his side will not underestimate their opponents as they target a winning start to the campaign.
