The Federal Government has dismissed reports suggesting it plans to introduce new taxes on telecommunications services and petroleum products. According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the IMF’s recommendations are not binding government policy. Decisions on taxes follow established constitutional and legislative processes. The VAT waiver on fuel remains in place, and the telecom excise duty has been repealed under the new tax laws.
