Moses Simon: Most Current Super Eagles Will Be Spectators at 2030 World Cup

Moses Simon: Most Current Super Eagles Will Be Spectators at 2030 World Cup — 1 of 2
1 / 2

Moses Simon admits Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup means most of today’s Super Eagles won’t feature in 2030. The Paris FC winger described missing out on 2026 as a painful setback. He believes the squad will look very different by the time Spain, Portugal and Morocco host in 2030. "About 90 or 95 per cent of the players in the current team... I don't think they will play the next World Cup," Simon said. Simon, now 31, says younger talents will carry Nigeria’s hopes on the global stage. He remains optimistic that a new generation will step up and ensure the Super Eagles stay competitive.

Simon's point about a different squad in 2030 is predictable, yet it highlights how deep the talent gap might be without immediate action.

While missing 2026 hurts, the Super Eagles have bounced back before; dismissing their chances so early could be premature.

Coaches should fast-track under-23 players into senior training camps to ensure genuine continuity towards the 2030 World Cup.
