Police seize 250 live cartridges, arrest two in Itesiwaju LGA

The Oyo State Police Command arrested two men with 250 live cartridges during an intelligence-led operation in Budo Pako, Oke-Oyan, Itesiwaju LGA on June 10. Spokesperson Olayinka Ayanlade said the suspects—35-year-old Ganiyu Sodiq and 23-year-old Salaudeen Sheriff, both from Komu—could not explain their possession of the ammunition. Officers recovered all cartridges and suspect an arms-trafficking network. Investigations are ongoing to identify collaborators and trace the source and destination of the weapons. The suspects remain in custody and will be charged when inquiries conclude. The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to curbing illegal arms and urged public vigilance.

Are we sure these two men were actually responsible for storing all those cartridges? Sometimes arrests are made just to show quick results.

Local leaders and law enforcement should work closely to trace the source of these cartridges and prevent future large stockpiles in the area.
