Changing Touch

Changing Touch

Matthew 8:1–4 shows a man with leprosy stepping out of the crowd in search of a personal encounter. For five years he had been isolated, untouchable, and forgotten. Filled with anger and hope, he approached Jesus. Instead of recoiling, Jesus drew near, touched him, and spoke, “Be healed.” In one moment, warmth, strength, and dignity returned to his body. This story reminds us that miracles require bold action. We must not sit in the crowd waiting for change. Arise, reach out, and receive your own touch of faith.

It's striking that this story highlights both anger and hope in the leper's approach, yet we rarely discuss how those feelings coexist.

While we praise Jesus' compassion, maybe we overlook the risk he took by touching someone considered untouchable.

In daily life, this passage reminds me to reach out to those we avoid and offer simple gestures of acceptance.
